Profile

I discovered my passion for furniture making and restoration after moving to Gloucestershire in 1991. After completing a City and Guilds in Carpentry and Joinery and a furniture restoration course, I worked for a number of furniture making companies whilst furthering my knowledge by undertaking various private commisions designing and making beds, tables, cabinets, etc.

In 1996 I took up a position at Hare's Antiques of Cirencester where I really started learning at first hand about quality furniture and the art of restoration. I learned a great deal from their senior restorer Adrian Warren who kindly tolerated my constant questioning and peering over his shoulder to see how things can be done and should be done. I left Hare's between 2002 and 2004 to become workshop manager at Hunt and Lomas, also of Cirencester where I worked on a wide range of English and continental furniture including many Aesthetic and Arts and Crafts movement pieces.

I set up my own workshop in Woodchester near Stroud in 2007 and have been busy since, working on quality antiques of all shapes and sizes, from 18 ft. dining tables to humble country footstools.
